The race to be Bethlehem's next Controller is on fire.
Meg Holland struck early with some press conferences and some attacks on her opponent's perceived lack of accounting experience.
Now, David DiGiacinto is fighting back.
First, the Morning Call ran a nice article highlighting his career and his background, and allowed him and Holland to trade some jabs about his accounting experience.
Second, DiGiacinto started off the campaign mailer season in Bethlehem with a nicely done mailer highlighting his career, his Bethlehem roots and his experience in business.

In a year when most thought the races in Bethlehem would lack excitement, the race for Controller appears to have changed that.
Campaign finance reports are due by Friday. It will be interesting to follow the money in this race.

Meg Holland graduated from Freedom High School in 1971, where she was class Secretary. [Meg attended St. Anne’s and Spring Garden for elementary school and Northeast Middle School.] Meg graduated from Penn State University in 1974 with a B.S. in accounting.
Meg has lived in Bethlehem all of her life, besides brief stints at PSU (3 years) and in NYC (4 years). In 1983 on their way back from a business/vacation trip to Tokyo, Meg and her ex-husband brought Mr. Sakon’s (of Tondabayashi, Japan) gift of the cherry blossom trees, which are planted around City Hall and in the Japanese gardens.
Meg has been a member of the LV Chamber of Commerce (formerly Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce) for 25 years. Meg is also a member of Bethlehem Rotary and on the Committee for Institutional Advanced for the Historic Bethlehem Partnership.
Meg is one of the six children of Attorney Robert and Marie Holland. Attorney Robert Holland was President of the Northampton County Bar Association and Marie Holland was the first female President of the Bethlehem Association of Realtors (now part of the Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors). Meg’s sister, Bernadette Holland, was the first female President of Bethlehem Rotary.

2 things...
1. Meg could be a direct decendant of Zinzindorf and it still would not help her win because she is a registered Republican. I am not saying this is a good thing, it is just the reality of Bethlehem politics.
2. Websites mean little when few voters look at them.

The intention of the post was not to say Meg Holland did not have Bethlehem roots.
